The Loch Ness Monster, or Nessie, is a cryptide in Scottish folklore and cryptozoology that is believed to inhabit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. It is often described as wide, long-necked and protruding from the water with one or more humps. Since it was brought to worldwide attention in 1933, public interest and belief in the creature had varied.
